Who is a good candidate for Eye Lid Surgery?
Patients with excess and saggy skin of the eyelids. Patients with puffy eyelids that make them look tired or older.
What are Eye Lid Surgery contraindications?
We recommend avoiding the procedure in severe or uncontrolled systemic diseases, connective tissue disease, malignancy, unrealistic expectations, local skin pathology and pregnancy.
Note: A contraindication is a condition or factor that serves as a reason to withhold a certain medical treatment due to the harm that it would cause the patient.
How is this procedure performed?
The incision for upper blepharoplasty is created along the skin crease of the upper eyelid.
The incision for lower blepharoplasty is created internally (transconjunctival), however, in some cases, the incision might be placed externally below the eyelash line in case of severe skin laxity.
How long does the effect last?
The procedure offers long term rejuvenation of the eyelids, however, it is important to remember that aging is an ongoing process and patients results may vary based on many factors including genetics and skin integrity.
What should I expect during recovery?
Initial discomfort is expected and is usually controlled with oral medication. Patient are instructed to keep the head elevated and ice frequently after surgery. Swelling and bruising can occur and usually resolve within 1 to 2 weeks.
Where is the scar?
The scar is either camouflaged into the lid skin crease or hidden inside the lid.
