Who is a good candidate for Face Lift?

• Patients with loose excess skin of the face and neck
• Jowling of the jaw line
• Cheek and midface droop

What are Face Lift contraindications?

We recommend avoiding the procedure in severe or uncontrolled systemic diseases, connective tissue disease, malignancy, unrealistic expectations, local skin pathology and pregnancy

Note: A contraindication is a condition or factor that serves as a reason to withhold a certain medical treatment due to the harm that it would cause the patient.

How is this procedure performed?

• The procedure is performed under local anesthesia with monitored IV sedation. The incision for the face lift is hidden in the temporal hairline and around the ear.
• If a neck lift is done, the incision is hidden behind the ear and in the hair on the back of the head.
• It is very important to tighten the muscle layer under the skin (SMAS) to achieve durable long term results and avoid tension on the skin.
• After the SMAS is tightened and the excess skin is removed, the incision is closed using different modalities.
• Face and neck lifts might be accompanied by other procedures as chin implants, cheek implants, eye lid rejuvenation, etc

How long does the effect last?

While every patient is different, the results are expected to last for approximately 10 years. This varies based on patients, skin integrity, genetics etc

What should I expect during recovery?

• Patients are discharged home after the procedure with a head compression wrap
• A drain might be used and is usually removed in 1-2 days
• Initial neck stiffness is common
• Swelling and numbness are expected and usually resolve within 1-2 weeks
• You need to avoid sun exposure to avoid hyperpigmentation of the healing incisions
• Sleep with the head elevated to decrease swelling
• Sutures are usually removed approximately 1 week after the procedure
