Neck Liposuction

This procedure involves making a very small incision hidden in the crease under the chin. A small cannula is introduced to remove the fatty tissue eliminating double chin and give a well defined jaw line and neck contour. This procedure removes only the superficial fat of the neck (superficial to the platysma muscle) not the deep fat.

Who is a good candidate for Neck Liposuction?

Overall healthy Patients who are aiming to correct unappealing fatty tissue deposits (debulking) or achieve defined body contour (sculpting).


What are Neck Liposuction contraindications?

We recommend avoiding the procedure in severe or uncontrolled systemic diseases, connective tissue disease, malignancy, unrealistic expectations, local skin pathology and pregnancy.

Note: A contraindication is a condition or factor that serves as a reason to withhold a certain medical treatment due to the harm that it would cause the patient.

How is this procedure performed?

  • The procedure is done under local anesthesia with monitored sedation. This is then followed by emulsification and suction of fat preserving the skin blood supply and achieving the desired aesthetic results. Since the area is numb after the procedure, we routinely do not use narcotics for pain control and the pain is easily controlled on acetaminophen (Tylenol). Also, since general anesthesia and narcotics are avoided, nausea and vomiting are very rare after the procedure. Head wrap is used after the procedure for 1-2 weeks, this varies per patient.
  • Vaser liposuction uses ultrasound energy providing smooth contour and skin tightening

How long does the effect last?

As long as patients keep a healthy lifestyle and avoid weight gain. The results are expected to be long term

What should I expect during recovery?

Mild swelling, bruising and numbness are expected which usually resolve within 1-2 weeks. Icing and using compression head wrap can decrease swelling and bruising

Where is the scar?

There is only 1 small incision hidden in the skin crease under the chin

Is it true that after liposuction of one body part, other parts get bigger?

This occurs if patients are consuming high calories and not exercising properly. The remaining fat cells in other areas will store the excess calories compensating for the missing fat cells that were removed by liposuction. Therefore, it is very important to avoid weight gain after liposuction and adopt a healthy lifestyle.

How long does it take before seeing the final result?

It might take up to 6 months or more. Therefore, it is very important to keep the postoperative follow-up appointments, use the garment and follow the instructions.

What is Vaser Liposuction?

Vaser is an advanced technology that utilizes ultrasound energy to emulsify the fat prior to removing it. Vaser allows for high definition sculpting (e.g. sculpt six-pack abdomen).

Great for anything in his speciality

If you are looking for a doctor who will listen to you and explain what & why he’s going to do something, you have found him. He has the added benefit of a wonderful bedside manner minus the arrogance found in doctors ( just because they are doctors, you have met a few if you’re reading this I’m sure). In all he’s a wonderful person who if you’re lucky enough to find him, give him a call. You will have an amazing doctor who is there for you without dodging your call’s no matter how silly you think the question or thought may be ( this isn’t a paid ad I promise, you have his cellphone number incase of anything no matter the time. Sorry, but I’ve never been able to reach a doctor 24-7 without going through a answering service and even then how many times do you get to talk to them? Not many from my experience and I’ve seen more doctors than I care to think about.) he’s always able to answer it or calm your pre surgery nerves. He’s great if you’re looking for anything in his specialty and if I could, he’d be my doctor for everything, but he’s only one person so I will settle for his specific fields.
